So Mcphoney Pictures has been around a while now and its has seen a lot of changes! (Especially in its look and feel). Our website has been updated many a time and more importantly so has our logo. And we suppose a lot of you think that we just cant make our minds up! And technically…you are right! The hardest part of creating a logo however was to make something that pretty much explained what we were about from the start. We wanted the name to mean something and unfortunately you would not ideally think of films and production when you here the word mcphoney! However that was one thing we were certain of, and that was to stick with the name! But as for the logo….that was a different matter all together! Before we even began to think of creating our own we decide to just stick with standard text using the Times New Roman font. But then when we started to learn and understand what various software out there could produce, thats when we began our mission on making something unique!
Using one of our first editing tools by Nero we used a simple combination of title animations/fades to show case the name mcphoney itself. (Which at that point we were called MCPHONEY LTD).
Then we upgraded our software and started to used another “family friendly” editing suite called Pinnacle. This opened up a few more options for us and we were able to add some effects to the now called MCPHONEY PICTURES INC. logo.
After a while, again we thought this did not work because the logo itself didn’t showcase what we were exactly doing (film-making), So back to the drawing board we went! Thats when we started to get professional. We obtained Adobe Photoshop to help our logo come to life but we were still stuck with what the logo should look like. Instead however we went about this with a different approach and decided to just use the name as the logo and after finding a font we liked we then called ourselves MCPHONEY.COM and not MCPHONEY PICTURES. Keeping it simple after a few effects and font changes we stuck with a standard black and white text format. This worked…for a while…
We wanted to make it big…almost big enough to conquer the world! (of film that is)! So after taking a time out to learn some essential skills with our new Adobe After effects package thats when we came up with the idea of the name itself “MCPHONEY.COM” wrapping over the world in its own text. We were very pleased with the result as not only did it showcase a nice logo but looked visually stunning as well! But once more we came to realise that as attractive as the logo may be….its just not showing what MCPHONEY.COM/MCPHONEY PICTURES was all about. So we stopped and had a think.
What represents film? What represents our light-hearted films? Something simple yet effect? And that is when the logo we have today (Which we are keeping) came into play. Without realising the logo was stirring us right in the face. And after a little touch up in Photoshop….our icon was born!
